Questions We Get Before the First Call
How to Reach Us
Call (952) 246-5104 if a door won't open, a spring has let go, or an opener is grinding and not moving the door. Our address is 12400 Portland Ave, Burnsville, MN 55337 - that's where the trucks stage out of, not a storefront you need to visit, since almost everything we do happens at your house.
When you call, have the brand on the opener motor (if you can read it) and whether the door is a single or double. That's enough to get a truck pointed in the right direction. If the spring is broken, don't try to open the door with the opener - it'll strain the motor and sometimes bend the track.
We don't run 24-hour dispatch, so if you call outside normal hours, leave a message with your address and what's wrong and we'll get back to you as soon as the line opens. For anything that isn't an emergency - a noisy roller, a door that's slow to close, a remote that's stopped syncing - the same number works fine, no need to call it urgent to get a callback.
Where We Work
We're based in Burnsville, and the bulk of our calls come from inside that eight-to-twenty-mile ring. Credit River and Richfield are both about eight miles out. Mendota Heights, Inver Grove Heights, and Jackson sit around eleven to twelve miles. Further out we reach Coates, St. Louis Park, West St. Paul, Elko New Market, and South St. Paul at roughly thirteen to fourteen miles, then St. Paul Park, Chanhassen, Newport, Golden Valley, and Falcon Heights around fifteen to sixteen.
At the outer edge of what we'll drive for - Deephaven, Vermillion, Excelsior, Carver, Hampton, Woodland, Robbinsdale, Shorewood, Roseville, Wayzata, St. Anthony, Jordan, Crystal, New Hope, and Columbia Heights, seventeen to twenty miles - we still take the call, but if it's a non-urgent job on a busy day, you might wait longer for a slot than someone closer to Burnsville would.
If your address isn't on this list, call anyway and ask. The ring isn't a hard line, it's just where most of our work actually falls.
Who You Are Dealing With
We work on garage doors and the openers, springs, tracks, cables, and panels that go with them - repair first, replacement when repair doesn't make sense anymore. A lot of the houses in this area were built between 1956 and 2005, with most of that stock dating to the 1960s and 70s, so a good share of our calls are older torsion springs and openers that are original or close to it, plus the occasional one-piece door that nobody makes parts for anymore. That's a real limitation: if your door or opener is old enough, sometimes the honest answer is replace it rather than keep patching a part we can't source.
We don't do new home construction installs or commercial overhead doors - our work is single-family residential, which matches most of what's around here. Median household income across the area runs about $100,250, and we quote jobs plainly: what's broken, what it costs to fix, and whether fixing it is actually the better move than replacing it. Winters here fall in a cold-moderate band, which is hard on springs and weatherstripping both, so cold-weather failures are a normal part of the work, not a surprise.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have a physical office I can come to?
The Portland Ave address is where our trucks are based, not a walk-in counter. Almost all of our work is done at the homeowner's house, so there's no need to stop by - call (952) 246-5104 and we'll get a truck to you instead.
How far out from Burnsville will you actually drive?
We regularly work from about eight miles out, places like Credit River and Richfield, up through the eighteen-to-twenty-mile range, including Roseville, Crystal, and Columbia Heights. If you're near the far edge of that range, call and ask - we'll tell you straight whether it fits the day's schedule.
My garage door is original to the house - can you even get parts?
Depends on the door and the opener. A lot of homes in this area date to the 1960s and 70s, and some older one-piece doors and early opener models use hardware that's hard to source now. We'll tell you up front if a part isn't realistic to find, and whether replacement makes more sense than chasing it.
Do you work on commercial overhead doors?
No - we stick to single-family residential garage doors and openers. If you've got a commercial door, we're not the right call for that job, and we'd rather tell you that than take a job outside what we do.
What should I do if my spring breaks and I need the car out now?
Don't use the automatic opener to try to force the door - a broken torsion spring puts the full weight of the door on the opener and track, which can bend things further. Call (952) 246-5104, tell us it's a broken spring, and we'll get you scheduled as soon as we can.
